Ernesto Aguirre is a graduate of the University of North Texas College of Music. A first generation Mexican-American, Ernesto has a passion and keen understanding for storytelling and music unique to his upbringing that fuels his desire to grow as a composer.
Ernesto’s playing has taken him across the United States as part of Drum Corps International (DCI) where he played lead vibraphone for the percussion section of the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. He has also performed throughout Eastern Europe (in countries like Czechia, Hungary, and Austria) where he performed as a timpanist with the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) Philharmonic Orchestra. He also performed with the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra at the world-class Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio, Texas.
Ernesto also manages his own music publishing company, Twin Drummer Publishing. He receives several commissions yearly and composes original music and arrangements that are made available to primarily serve the music education market, from the early middle school level to professional works that are performed around the country.
At the UNT College of Music, Ernesto studied percussion with Professors Mark Ford, Paul Rennick, Sandi Rennick, Christopher Deane, and Steve Barnes, as well as jazz arranging from Grammy-nominated arranger and composer Richard DeRosa.
He has also studied orchestration from renowned Hollywood arranger and orchestrator Tim Simonec (The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Up, Jurassic World, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Star Trek, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming); and studies composition and orchestration privately with multi-Emmy winning and Oscar-nominated composer Bruce Broughton.
Ernesto is a proud member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), the Composers Diversity Collective (CDC), and the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL).
